Fleeting Moments
As I sit on the cool sand of the beach, I feel a sense of calm wash over me. The waves gently crash against the shore, creating a soothing background melody. I watch as the darkness slowly fades away, making room for the first rays of light to peek over the horizon. The colors of the sky transform from shades of purple and blue to yellows and oranges. With each passing minute, the landscape becomes more breathtaking. I am filled with a sense of hope and renewal as I witness the start of a new day.
As the sun begins to rise and the "blue hour" turns to the "golden hour" I stand up and begin hiking through wet sand in search of wildlife on the beach. An occasional wave rolls up and washes the sand off of my feet, and the rising sun slowly starts to warm the morning air.
As I gaze into the horizon, I spot a stunning sight of great blue herons, seagulls, and tiny crabs all coexisting on the pristine beach. The peaceful harmony between these creatures is truly a marvel to behold. The great blue herons seem to be taking a break from their hunting, while the seagulls and crabs playfully frolic around the shoreline, showcasing their playful sides.
In times like this I feel a rush of joy and excitement as I try to capture these stunning moments in the wild. Whether it's a big horn sheep ram on the edge of a cliff or great blue herons on the beach at sunrise, there's nothing quite like witnessing these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. The thrill of the hunt, the patience needed to wait for the perfect shot, and the satisfaction of knowing that I have captured a fleeting moment in time all make wildlife photography such a rewarding and exciting passion. It truly is a privilege to be able to witness and capture God's incredible creatures in their element.
Now that I've returned from the beach, the mountains are calling, and at the end of September I'll be answering that call and heading up to northern Colorado for a few days before driving up to Grand Teton National Park and the Greater Yellowstone area to photograph the Rockies and the Tetons with hopes of getting some shots of the brown bears before they head off for their winter slumber.
