As the sun began to set, an empty apple snail shell sat motionless, basking on the bank of the Tchefuncte River in the last rays of light. The once lively home of a small aquatic creature was now a motionless artifact, left behind to blend in with the surrounding scenery. Its intricate spiral design and faded brown and gold color complemented the soft hues of orange and pink in the sky.
